Abstract

The study examined awareness and use of Seliat Adebutu library resources among undergraduates of Crescent University, Abeokuta (CUAB). A descriptive survey method was adopted for the study. Two hundred and five (205) respondents were selected for the study using the convenience sampling technique. Primary data were obtained using a structured questionnaire. Data were analysed using frequency counts, percentages, means, standard deviation, and Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC). Results revealed that majority of the respondents were aware of hard copies of textbooks and journals. It also shows that students use library resources weekly. It was discovered that electronic databases (Hinari, Agora, Law Pavilion, LexisNexis, Ebscohost), reports, directories, projects, thesis, and dissertation have low awareness and poor patronage. A majority believe that the library building should be moved closer to the class auditorium and collections should be updated. The study found that there was a significant positive correlation (r = .34, p = 0.000) between the level of awareness and use of library resources. The study recommended that librarians should re-strategize the techniques of awareness, acquire more updated collections and University management should be on the lookout to erect classroom structures around the library to enhance the use of library resources.
